THE X-HEMP STORY

X-Hemp uses both agricultural waste and purpose-grown cannabis crops to make environmentally-friendly hemp-building products.

The industrial hemp sector has been officially recognised as an emerging industry. X-Hemp is the only cannabis fibre processing mill in Tasmania, one of only a small handful operating in Australia, and is the only 100% female-owned and run hemp facility in the world.

Founded by a Tasmanian local who also serves as President at the Tasmanian Hemp Association, Managing Director Andi Lucas created this entity for the purpose of empowering and enabling women to fully participate in Tasmania’s economic and community life, specifically in rural areas, and to build more resilient homes for the rapidly changing climate.

X-Hemp grows its own crops and works with our state’s licensed hemp farmers, converting the grain stubble left from the hemp seed harvest – which was previously being burned off as waste – into saleable products. X-Hemp sells hemp for building materials, mulch for landscaping, bast for specialty paper production, and other outputs for alternative uses such as animal bedding.
