X-Hemp’s visit from Governor of Tasmania
Here at X-Hemp, we were absolutely thrilled and honoured to recently welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers AO to our humble factory! It was a fantastic opportunity not only to showcase our operations and the innovative work we're doing with hemp building materials, but also to shine a spotlight on the incredible array of other Tasmanian hemp-based products. From construction and foods to beauty products, the versatility of this amazing plant never ceases to amaze us – and it was a pleasure to share that with such distinguished guests.

We were able to walk the Governor and Professor Chalmers through our process, from the initial stages of hemp processing to the creation of hempcrete. We discussed the environmental benefits of hemp, its carbon-negative properties, and its potential to revolutionize the construction industry. It's always exciting to see people's reactions when they learn about the strength, durability, and breathability of hempcrete!
But, of course, no visit to X-Hemp is complete without an appearance from our unofficial mascot, Astro the Golden Retriever. Astro is full of charm and enthusiasm. she's also got a slight obsession with hemp stalks. So, imagine our amusement when, during the tour, Astro cheekily attempted to liberate a few choice hemp stalks right out of the Governor's hands! Thankfully, Her Excellency has a wonderful sense of humour, and the moment provided a good laugh for everyone. We assured her that Astro's intentions were purely professional – she's just very dedicated to quality control, you see!

Beyond the fun and games, the visit was a valuable opportunity to discuss the future of the hemp industry in Tasmania and its potential to contribute to a more sustainable and prosperous future for our state. We're incredibly grateful for the Governor and Professor Chalmers' interest.

From the delicious hemp seed oil produced by local farmers to the beautiful hemp paper crafted by talented artisans, Tasmania is truly becoming a hub for all things hemp.
